Addressing a huge congregation of youth at the Bhartiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha Sammelan in
Ludhiana’s Anaaj Mandi, Punjab BJP president, Vijay Sampla today said that the country would
progress only if the concerns of the youth are addressed. Sampla said that favorable policies were
required for the young generation to secure their future, but the previous government failed to do so.
The state party president said that during the past two-and- a-half years schemes like Make in India
and Skill India have been initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which have
provided employment to thousands of unemployed youth. He said that by setting up an IIM and
dozens of universities in the state, youth have been provided quality education and jobs.
Sampla said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has connected the youth to the nation, while some
youngsters groomed by other political parties are raising anti-national slogans in Delhi University
campus. After Lal Bahadur Shastri, Narendra Modi is the only prime ministers whose call has been
whole-heartedly accepted by the citizens who even gave up their LPG subsides whereas the
previous governments were so corrupt that nobody believed in them. PM Modi is serving the nation
not for himself but for the people. A party formed a government in Delhi and promised sops like free
wi-fi, cctvs, homes etc. to youth, dalits and the poor but failed to fulfill them”.
Slamming Capt. Amarinder Singh, Sampla said, “Despite being a representative of the people,
Capt. Amarinder Singh never attended the Lok Sabha, but he took out time to meet his Pakistani
friend. If the Punjabis can make a mark throughout the world and make a compatriot from
Hoshiarpur a Canadian MP, then we can also salvage Punjab. We don’t require outsiders in the
state and Punjab’s electorate will never give a chance to irresponsible people”.
Joining Sampla, BJYM ex-president and MP Anurag Thakur in his fiery speech said, “The only
government under which Punjab can prosper is that of the Akali-BJP coalition. Ten years back
Punjab’s condition was pathetic. The life of people was miserable with potholed roads a common
sight ant people talking about generators and invertors inside their homes. Today there are wide
highways and flyovers all over the state and the people are getting 24-hour uninterrupted power
supply. The extent of development which Amritsar has witnessed during the past few months hasn’t
been there since the past seven decades”.
Questioning the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh, Anurag Thakur said, “The person who
couldn’t even ask two-and- a-half questions in the Parliament during the past two-and- a-half, what
he will do for Punjab? The AAP party which was censured by Anna Hazare, Yogendra Yadav and
the people of Delhi, how can it serve Punjab? AAP leaders have been caught red-handed indulging
in lechery, and more than half of the party MLAs and ministers have been jailed on serious charges.
Two out of the four AAP MPs quit the party, one never opened his mouth and the remaining one
only spoke when he was drunk”.
Anurag Thakur also lashed out at Rahul Gandhi stating that the Congress vice-president did not
have the guts to speak and hence had kept his mouth shut.
Listing out the achievements of Centre government Thakur termed PM Modi as the leader of the
poor. He said that Congress and AAP were hand-in- gloves with black money holders. Thakur stated
that Akali-BJP coalition was a symbol of brotherhood in the state and it needed to be carried
forward. Lauding the development in Punjab he said that Punjab has the highest number of airports
today and if the coalition governments continue at the Centre and the State, flights would soon be
started from Ludhiana too. Thakur said that the youth of Punjab were being defamed in the name of
drugs while this problem should be dealt with families and the youth coming together. He exhorted
the youth to work hard at the ground level and expose the hypocrites and the lecherous.
